SOFT STORY RETROFITTING
THINGS YOU
SHOULD KNOW:

Bay Area cities are making soft story retrofitting mandatory.
GGB can help you stay in compliance, protect your investment and ensure the safety of your tenants.
The City of Alameda recently sent out letters regarding potentially hazardous buildings.
Goodale General Builders are excited to be a part of making California homes and businesses a safer place to live and work. Dedication to our clients and commitment to high quality workmanship is the cornerstone of our business. GGB can protect your home or building from earthquake damage while helping you follow new soft story compliance requirements. We are with you every step and can explain the process in a way you can easily understand.
Do you own a single-family home?
If so, make sure your home is structurally sound. GGB does foundation replacements, bolting, shear walls and other seismic retrofitting.

What is a Soft Story Building and why are you on the list?
Existing multi-unit residential buildings in which the ground floor has parking or other large, weak, or open front walls will be put on the list of Potentially Hazardous Soft Story Buildings. Owners will receive a notification letter from their city.

What is the next step?
If you received notice, call Goodale General Builders. Bay Area cities will be making soft story ordinances mandatory soon. GGB can assist with all phases of the retrofitting process from inspection to completion. Speedy compliance will help avoid potential fines and costly future upgrades before mandatory ordinances are put into place.
